I have to visit a lot of pubs in my line of work. I know, it’s a dirty job, but someone’s got to do it. But it’s not all beer and roses, or even pub lunches. As the Managing Editor of The Publican magazine I’m often analysing pubs from top to bottom for different projects or judging them for awards.

Sunshine is promised for the spring Bank Holiday, so the Ordnance Survey one day Cycle Tours for Bristol, Somerset and Wiltshire (Nick Cotton) that was a Christmas gift, is brought off the bookshelf and there was a choice to be made from two “EASY” ride sections, one covering the Somerset Levels south of Wedmore and the other, River Valleys and canals near Marlborough.

I love Saturday mornings, a lazy brunch with a newspaper and lots of coffee. The phone rang and it was Laura's Mum having their usual Saturday morning catch up, and I was reading about the latest scandal to hit when I overheard "it would be lovely to see you and Dad before he goes away on Monday" - now I should explain, we live in London, and Laura's parents live in Bath, spur of the moment meet ups don't tend to happen!

When I learnt that you were sending me on a trip to visit Liverpool to follow in the footsteps of The Beatles, I just had to book a room in the Hard Days Night Hotel. This boutique hotel is dedicated to The Beatles situated right beside the Cavern Club. To my surprise, the hotel and the room were both extremely pleasant and far from the bed giving me a “hard day’s night” it was both comfortable and modern, with fantastic twist of Beatles magic.

Recently I visited one of London’s newest attractions ‘Ripley’s Believe it Or Not!’. Based on the life work of Robert Leroy Ripley, this exhibition makes you question the magnificent human body and all that it can endure and right from the start it certainly managed that.
