Although its nice to buy new articles or gear to take on holiday you may be economising this year and getting the most out of items you've had for some time. Its best to expect that they'll give up on you sooner or later and the best repair kit to have in emergencies is Gaffer tape. You don't need to take the whole roll. Just wrap some around a water bottle/flask that you probably take anyway.

If you're used to paying for things on credit and debit card, some rural businesses may have minimum cash points. So if you're off to the countryside, you may want to carry a bit more cash than usual

Don't forget sun tan lotion or sunhat if it's very hot to avoid sun stroke. Also don't forget ipod charger

I always overpack and end up carrying too much luggage. I now try and plan my outfits in advance, but this does not always work.

Tim

If you are traveling with children plan a nice place to stop so you can enjoy a picnic rather than always having to stop at motor way stations
