Alfred Hitchcock was both gourmand and glutton. His physical girth reveals the extent that he loved his food. He has been quoted as saying whilst he abstained from eating eggs, he could willingly consume an English breakfast three times a day.

My top ten favourite films shot in England

Over a quarter of us here in England are influenced in our choice of holiday destinations by reading about them in a novel or seeing them as film or TV locations and England is no exception to a worldwide trend.

The global phenomenon of The Da Vinci Code released in 2006 produced a massive hike in visitor numbers both to the places mentioned in the original novel and to the locations used in the movie starring Tom Hanks and Audrey Tautou.

Listed below are my top ten favourite movies filmed in England with the locations at which they were filmed – let me know if you agree and if not, I’d love to hear about your favourites.

The  Star over London  Airship ride was definitely an experience of a lifetime - how many people can say they have flown in a  "Zeppelin ", or even know someone who has?

Top Ten Cinemas in England

Iron Man, Hellboy II: The Golden Army, X-Files 2, The Mummy , The Dark Knight , Wanted, Pixar’s  ground-breaking animation continuing to amaze in the upcoming  Wall-E and of course *deep excited breath* Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull – its all a bit much for this film fanatic! I'm very excited about 2008 summer movie releases… it looks like it could be one of the best summers for cinema in several years.

Anyone for a picnic?

We’ve recently added a retired greyhound to our family of four, which gives us the perfect excuse to spend more time enjoying the countryside. Subsequently we’ve had more picnics in the last three months than we’ve had in a long time!
