We soaked up the fresh sea air as we walked along Brighton seafront, past all the fish 'n' chip and sweet shops piled high with sticks of rock. It already felt a million miles away from the busy streets of London.
We’d love to be the lighthouse keeper at this adorable mint-green hideaway. Snoozing on the cliffs of the tranquil seaside town of Herne Bay, The Lighthouse has a balcony that stretches around the octagon tower so you can sit down to tea, coffee or whatever takes your fancy and gaze out to the glittering sea.

Finding hidden waterfalls on a trek to a secluded beach, scoffing gigantic clotted cream-smothered scones while black swans paddle around in envy, waving hello to tiny tims congregating in a model village. Nope this isn’t the daydream of a raving lunatic; these are some of my fondest memories of childhood holidays.
