Alastair Sawday is the go-to guide for characterful places to stay and Canopy & Stars is his carefully chosen collection of luxury camping spaces. They’ve just launched The 2012 Great British Adventure competition, which will send two lucky winners on a 1,270 mile trip through three countries in 10 days this summer. Naturally, there'll be a fair few eclectic beds to sleep in along the way.

A fisherman's tale

22954In my early to mid teenage years fishing was all I thought about. £5 a week pocket money was enough to buy all the sweetcorn, luncheon meat and bread I needed to go fishing every spare day. That is exactly what I did. In fact, I went fishing most nights too.
