In the TV and press adverts we wanted to showcase not only the incredible beauty of England but also the wealth of things that you can do, regardless of how much time you have. So locations were chosen to reflect this.
Si and Rob from CST the agency behind the TV advert, take us on a trip around the locations featured in the advert.
We chose Newcastle as our modern, contemporary city, mainly because of the Sage Centre. We were sure that this striking Norman Foster building would look amazing from above. Newcastle also has the feel of a city that is progressive and happening.
Meanwhile the splendour of Bath’s Georgian Royal Crescent and the Circus, were chosen as a counterpoint to Newcastle’s futuristic feel.
We could have chosen any number of fairy tale castles as our focus on English heritage. Leeds Castle won through because it is stunning and has a classic moat. We then had to build the rest of the shoot around these fixed locations which, when you bring the weather and helicopter locations into the equation, was logistically ‘very interesting’.
As for the best bits of the shoot? Well flying over Leeds Castle, as a hot air balloon took off, was magical and watching a steam train thunder through the Sussex countryside was stunning. However, favourite has to be Cornwall.
Flying low level along the Cornish coast looking for fishing boats leaving idyllic little harbours, families playing on beaches or surfers catching a wave at Fistral Bay was just spectacular.
It was a fantastic project to work on and we’ve seen England from a totally new perspective.
Enjoy every minute? No way we enjoyed every second
